CHP Out In Force For The Holiday Weekend

Sonora, CA — The CHP is ramping up its efforts to catch impaired drivers this Memorial Weekend.

Sonora CHP says there will be three additional officers on duty throughout the weekend and five to patrol just on Monday.

They will be looking for anyone driving under the influence, using their cell phone while driving or not buckling up.

In 2011 twenty-four people lost their lives in crashes during the holiday weekend. That’s a 41% jump from the previous year. Also, 60% of those who died in crashes were not wearing seatbelts.
