CHP Says Frog Jump Weekend Safe

San Andreas, Ca — The Frog Jump weekend CHP report noted a reasonably safe weekend. According to Lt. Ehlers, “This years enforcement efforts were an effective deterrent. Visitors and residents enjoyed themselves safely!”

Between May 18th at noon to May 20th at midnight, the San Andreas CHP handled two traffic collisions, both were solo vehicles, one was a motorcycle. None of the collisions were caused by driving under the influence, or DUI related. Officer Rebecca Myers says, “There were two people arrested for driving under the influence in separate traffic stop incidents.” None of the incidents are related to the fight that broke out after a crash Friday, as reported earlier by the Jamestown CHP here.

The Valley Division CHP RAID (Rapid Apprehension of Impaired Drivers) team, funded by a federal grant, was brought to the area on Saturday. According to Myers, “Their presence during this event has brought our collision statistics from a high of 18 in 2006, to this year being the lowest with two collisions.” She noted that DUI arrests were at a high of 32 in 2007.
