Frogs Bring More Tourists And Police

San Andreas, CA — For many the Frog Jump Weekend is the kick off of to summer. Each year, it brings many tourists to the area and the roadways.

The CHP Valley Division is once again starting up its RAID program in Calaveras County. That stands for Rapid Apprehension of Impaired Drivers.


The program teams up CHP officers with San Andreas cops to put more officers on the streets. The added patrols are showing positive results. Accidents have dipped from 18 in 2006 to 7 in 2011. Also, DUI arrests have dropped from 32 in 2007 to 7 last year.


The team is funded by a federal grant.
