Highway 26 Safer For Motorist

Calaveras County, CA — Added CHP patrols are making Highway 26 safer for you.

Last year 50% of all fatal crashes in Calaveras County happened between Jenny Lynn road and the county line.

To bring that number down by 75% the CHP added another officer on that stretch to catch motorists breaking the law.

Officer Rebecca Myers says you can help by slowing down, keeping your eyes on the road and not talking or texting on your cell phone while driving.

In total for Calaveras County, highway injury collisions are down by 6% and property damage by 38%.

Last year, 4 people lost their lives in accidents in the county. So far this year, there has been 1 fatal crash.
