American Wood Fibers Begins Operations

The opening of American Wood Fibers was celebrated this week.

AFW purchased California Wood Shavings last July, and operates out of the former Joe Martin Trucking building near the intersection of J-59 and Highway 108. AFW, which is based in Maryland, is the nation’s largest supplier of wood flour (used in decking, absorbents and adhesives), and animal bedding.

It is noted that the bedding is purchased by many local equestrians and those that compete at world class horse shows.

Numerous dignitaries were on hand for Wednesday’s ribbon cutting ceremony, including members of the Tuolumne County Supervisors, Sonora City Council and T.C. Economic Development Authority. The video shows the speech by AFW CEO Ed Leland.
