Sonora, CA — On to phase 2 for the Highway 108 East Sonora Bypass Project, meaning less congestion for motorists.
State and local officials broke ground today on this new stretch from Peaceful Oak Road to Via Este. Caltrans, District 10 Director, Carrie Bowen says it will be a boost to the economy as construction crews will be living and shopping in the area. She also says it will make the highway safer and less congested for motorist once it is completed in 2014.
The total cost for this phase of the project is over $14 million dollars. Speakers at the event included John Gray, District Four Tuolumne County Board Supervisor, Darin Grossi, Executive Director of the Tuolumne County Transportation Council, and Tim Miller, Sonora City Administrator.
Besides the actual groundbreaking, the video shows Darin Grossi speaking about future projects in the county, and Tim Miller highlighting benefits of extending the bypass.
