Jenny Lind Machete Fight

Jenny Lind, CA — A man was taken to a hospital after allegedly being hit in the head with a machete.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reports that 27-year-old Maurice Ryerson Ross allegedly struck the unidentified male victim with the weapon during a fight in the 10500 block of Knoll Drive in Jenny Lind. The victim had moderate, but not life-threatening, injuries and was flown to a hospital in Modesto.

Details about what actually happened are still sketchy. The Sheriff’s Office reports that Ross and the victim were reportedly “horsing around” and the victim received an accidental cut on his leg from the machete. Some type of altercation then followed. The Sheriff’s Office believes that Ross struck the victim in the head with the machete. An investigation is ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office notes that it is also possible that Ross only kicked the victim, causing the head injury.

Ross was booked into Calaveras County Jail for charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident happened earlier this week. Both people were reportedly drinking and were heavily intoxicated at the time.
