Calaveras Fair Is Dedicated To…

Angels Camp, CA – Every year the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is dedicated to a local family that has contributed to agriculture and the fair.

This year organizers have decided to change things up, and have dedicated the May event to the entire City of Angels Camp. The annual Frog Jump competition started in Angels Camp in 1928, and joined forces with the Fair in the 1930’s. Today the City continues to support the Fair by hanging banners, hosting the Kiddie Parade, and is the location of the famous Frog “Hop Of Fame.” Mayor Elaine Morris and other City Council members will be on hand for the Fair dedication on Thursday, May 17 at 7:30pm on the Main Stage. It is noted that the City of Angels Camp is celebrating its centennial this year.

In other Fair related news, the five candidates that will vie for the title of Miss Saddle Queen have been announced. They are Cassidy Davis, Natalie Harp, Krista Maisch, Rachelle Snitchler and Kimber Truelock.

The seven Miss Calaveras competitors will be Alexis Anderson, Christina Bernal, Brittany Cox, McKenzie Garcia, Allyson Guthrie, Taylor Mossa and Amanda French.

The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee runs May 17-20. It is part of a trio of events being referred to as “Rope, Ride and Ribbit. Other regional events in May include the Amgen Tour of California and the Mother Lode Roundup.
