Update: Solo-Vehicle Crash With Pin-In On Hwy 49

Update at 10:15 p.m.: The CHP reports the person trapped in the minivan that hit a tree on Highway 49/120 near Shawmut Road in Chinese Camp has been freed. There is no word on their condition, but an air ambulance is standing by at the scene. Traffic is slow going as officers are directing traffic. The CHP suggest an alternative route using Jacksonville Road.

Update at 9:45 p.m.: The CHP reports that a air ambulance has been called to the scene.  Officers are directing traffic so it is slow going for travelers and an alternative route using Jacksonville Road is being suggested.

Original post at 9:30 p.m.: Chinese Camp, CA — Emergency crews are on the scene of a solo-vehicle crash in the Chinese Camp area.

The CHP reports that one person is trapped in a minivan on Highway 49/120, between Shawmut and Menke Hess roads. The wreck happened around 9 a.m. when the vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the CHP, went off the highway and smashed into a tree.

Crews are working to free the person and there are no details as to how many individuals were inside the minivan. We will bring you more details as soon as they come into the newsroom.
