Stolen Property Recovered

Valley Springs, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office cracked the case of a stolen wood chipper.

The piece of equipment was stolen this week from a resident in the 5000 block of Carol Lane in Burson.

Later that day, someone reported that people were sitting in a parked vehicle at the 700 block of Quail Oaks Road in Valley Springs, claiming that it seemed suspicious. A deputy went up and spoke to people in the vehicle, and they told the deputy they were looking for 45-year-old Michael Duncan of Valley Springs. Duncan was the caretaker of the surrounding property and was living in a trailer onsite. While deputies looked around, they spotted the stolen wood chipper.

Duncan was soon located and placed under arrest. He also faces charges of being a felon in possession of live ammunition.
