Water Main Installation To Disrupt Traffic Flow

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne Utilities District (TUD) relays motorists will face delays and detours beginning next week and while the second phase of a water main project is underway in Sonora.

Crews will be installing the new pipe on Shaws Flat Road starting Monday as part of the Cuesta Height Water Storage and Distribution Improvements Project-Phase II. The roadway will be closed from the south end of Saratoga Road to the north end as can be viewed in the map below:

Crews will install nearly 4,000 linear feet of water main, three fire hydrants and seven water services.  Motorists can expect traffic delays, flaggers and detour signage in place throughout the duration of the project. No completion date has been given. TUD notes that the road will remain open for emergency vehicles, school buses, and residents during the construction.
