Homeowners Association Office Manager Arrested

Copperopolis, CA — A three month investigation has led to the arrest of a former Copper Cove Homeowners Association employee on embezzlement charges.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office reports that 38-year-old Heather Vannatta of Angels Camp allegedly purchased $6,400 in personal goods using the association’s credit cards and business accounts. Throughout 2011, she also allegedly over-paid her salary in excess of $18,000. Vannatta had been working as the association’s Office Manager.

Sheriff’s Detective’s obtained a search warrant to review Vannatta’s bank accounts. They noticed discrepancies which corroborated the association’s allegation. Vannatta has posted bail after being booked into Calaveras County Jail.
