Tuolumne County Educators Honored For Excellence In Teaching

Tuolumne, CA — Around 175 people were at the Black Oak Casino Resort conference center Tuesday evening for the annual Board of Trustees Dinner and Excellence in Teaching Awards presentations.

The event is put on by the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office. On hand was a mix of trustees from the various school boards, administrators, teachers and supporters. Opening comments were delivered by county Superintendent of Schools Cathy Parker, followed by a performance by Summerville High School’s Jazz @8 under the direction of Jim Wells, and then a presentation of the Excellence in Teaching Awards read by local students.

This year’s award winners were Molly Rose of Twain Harte School, Shane Patey of Summerville High, Stacy Tune of Summerville Elementary, Kyle Dooley of Soulsbyville Elementary, Matt Marinovich of Sonora High, Susan Ferrell of Sonora Elementary, Michelle Bennett of Jamestown Elementary, Martin Blake of Gold Rush Charter School, Jessica Holman of Curtis Creek Elementary, Kim Flower of the county schools office, Donald Dickinson of Columbia College, Diane Ditler of Columbia Elementary, Lydia Loera of Big Oak Flat-Groveland, Beth Barnett of Belleview Elementary and Jessica Holden of ATCAA Head Start.

In addition, James Miller of Gold Rush Charter School received the prestigious Career Achievement Award.
