Governor Signs School Transportation Bill

Sacramento, CA — A bill that protects school transportation spending was signed by Governor Jerry Brown Friday.

Rather than eliminate school bus funding via a “trigger cut,” the education spending reduction will be on a per-pupil basis statewide. Simply eliminating transportation spending was expected to adversely impact rural families.

“I am really pleased that the Governor signed SB 81 today,” says Kristin Olsen, District 25 Republican Assemblywoman. “This measure will keep the buses rolling and ensure that our kids will be treated fairly across the state regardless of where they live or where they go to school.”

SB81 had bi-partisan support in both the Assembly and Senate.
