Former School Superintendent Remembered Fondly

Sonora, CA — A longtime Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools has passed away.

Orville Millhollin died over the weekend at his Tuolumne County home. Joe Silva, current Superintendent of Schools, says Millhollin was greatly respected both in the community and in the education field. “He was the Superintendent for 20 years and has had a tremendous impact on education in the county,” says Silva. “He was a very kind and gentle man, and I think Tuolumne County was a better place because he was here.”

Silva says Millhollin served as Superintendent from 1979 to 1999, and notes that each election year he ran unopposed. Among Millhollin’s many accolades, he was inducted into the Columbia College Hall of Fame.

Funeral services for Millhollin have not yet been announced. He had been battling cancer.
