Super Bowl Safety

Sonora, CA — Last year on Super Bowl Sunday 452 California motorists were arrested for driving under the influence.

In addition, two people were killed statewide in alcohol related accidents. The CHP is encouraging motorists to report DUI drivers tonight by calling 911. The dispatcher will need a description of the vehicle, the license plate number and its direction of travel. The CHP also urges partygoers to have a plan in place for a designated driver well before the game starts, rather than wait until the fourth quarter.

On a related note, many in the Mother Lode are celebrating the Super Bowl this morning. The annual Frank Salel Super Bowl Breakfast takes place at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds from 7-11:30am. To read an earlier story about the event, click here.
