Suspicious Death Is A Homicide

West Point, CA — Calaveras County Sheriff’s Officials say a man is dead and he was murdered. They also say a woman is in the hospital. Deputies responded to a home on the 200 block of Stanley Road in West Point after a 911 caller reported two adults were unconscious and bleeding around 11:30 yesterday morning. Sheriff’s Officials say the man is 45 years old and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman is 37 years old and was taken to an area hospital.

Calaveras Sheriff’s Spokesperson Sgt. Chris Hewitt says, “Investigators collected evidence throughout the night and conducted interviews and have determined that the death of the man was homicide.”
Hewitt would not say what weapon was used in the murder or whether the woman is a suspect in the man’s murder. He also says they are not sure of the relationship between the man and woman.

Hewitt says the woman is undergoing medical treatment today, but would not reveal her injuries citing the ongoing investigation.
