CHP Tracks Down DUI Driver

West Point, CA — A man involved in a DUI crash in Calaveras County last night was tracked down at his home by law enforcement officials.

Muriel C. Norman of West Point was driving a 1990 Toyota pickup truck on Stanley Road, north of Highway 26, at around 7pm last night. The CHP says due to his intoxication he drifted off the road and slammed into a tree. Norman fled the scene, but was located at his nearby home and brought back to the crash site by law enforcement.

Norman was then booked into Calaveras County Jail and charged with DUI. The CHP estimates that he was traveling at a speed of 35 mph when the accident occurred. No other vehicles were involved.
