Missing Plane Found In Yosemite

Yosemite, CA — A hiker in Yosemite National Park spotted a single-engine plane that had gone missing last December.

Park officials say the plane was largely in-tact and located by a visitor near the Vogelsang High Sierra Camp on Saturday. On Sunday, Yosemite officials hiked to the location and confirmed that it was the missing plane. The pilot, Nicol Wilson, was found deceased at the crash site. Wilson was flying from the Santa Barbara area to the Mammoth Lakes Airport during a winter storm on December 17th. The plane went missing and could not be located.

Yosemite National Park Rangers will remove the plane from the backcountry over the next several weeks. The Vogelsang High Sierra Camp is located in the rugged high country of the park.
