Lawmakers Approve Pay Increases

Sacramento, CA — California lawmakers have signed off on an agreement negotiated between Governor Jerry Brown and the state’s largest public employees union.

AB1377 will give workers of Employees International Union Local 1000 a 4.5% pay increase starting July 1, 2015. The group has 95,000 members. The raises were approved as the state is on better financial ground due to improving revenues, boosted by the voter approved tax increases in 2012.

The Associated Press reports that earlier this week SEIU gave the Brown 2014 re-election campaign $54,400. The union and administration declined to comment on the timing of the contribution.
