New Locations For Cooling Stations

Sonora, CA — Starting tomorrow, Tuolumne County will change some of the locations of its cooling stations.

Cooling stations are open today at the Saint Patrick’s Parish in Sonora, Groveland Community Center and Behavioral Health Enrichment Center. They are operational from noon until 7pm for anyone needing to get out of the triple digit heat. County Health Officer Dr. Todd Stolp says two of the locations will shift this Wednesday through Friday. You will be able to stop by Sonora Elementary School, the Groveland Library Community Room, or the Behavioral Health Enrichment Center.

If you do not have reliable transportation to one of the cooling stations, you can contact Tuolumne County Transit at 532-0404 and they are willing to assist.

The public libraries and Tuolumne County Senior Center have also been popular spots to take a break from the hot weather. The County Health Department states that if you must be out in the heat, you are encouraged to drink 16-24 ounces of liquid each hour, including foods or juices to replace electrolytes. Using a hat and wearing sunscreen are also recommended.
