Calaveras Supervisors To Discuss PG&E Settlement

San Andreas, CA — Calaveras County received a $25.4-million settlement from PG&E following the Butte Fire, and today the board will discuss how to spend the money.

The supervisors are planning to review various projects and vote on allocating the funds. A proposal drafted ahead of the meeting calls for allocating the largest chunk, $14.6-million to the Public Works Department, for road repairs within the Butte Fire zone. Also of note, $1-million would go to the General Fund to cover Butte Fire labor expenses, $1-million to repair the sewer and facilities at the Calaveras Fairgrounds (county-wide evacuation center) and $2.75-million to help local fire districts.

In addition, the supervisors will vote on a Butte Fire Road Restoration Plan. Today’s meeting starts at 9am.
