Forest Service Releases Bio-Regional Assessment

Sonora, CA — The Forest Service has put out a Bio-Regional Assessment that the Stanislaus National Forest will use as a foundation to revise its forest plan.

The Stanislaus National Forest is one of 10 in the Sierra Cascade Region that the report encompasses. Forest plan revisions are already underway in the Inyo, Sequoia and Sierra National Forests, and plan revisions on the remaining national forests will soon follow.

The draft assessment addresses water quality and quantity, fire resilience, sustainable recreation, ecological integrity and community resilience.

The Forest Service says residents can weigh in and comment on the assessment. Further information on the plan can be found by clicking here.
