Fire Near Containment: 100 Acres

Sonora, CA — CAL Fire is now reporting that a vegetation fire in the area of Murphy Road is near containment.

The fire started at around 1pm in an area near the intersection of Lime Kiln Road, and officials have stopped the forward spread. To view a map of the region, click here. It is not immediately known what started the fire. No structures have been damaged.

Officials say that some firefighters will remain on scene for an extended period, possibly throughout the night, to mop up the fire. You will continue to notice smoke and activity. The latest estimate from CAL Fire puts the blaze at 100 acres.
