Drunk Driving In Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA — The Angels Camp Police Department is becoming increasingly alarmed about the high number of DUI arrests they are seeing in the city.

Police Chief Todd Fordahl says 25 DUI arrests have been made so far this year, compared to only five during the same period of 2012. He is not sure the exact reason for such a sharp increase, but has provided the following statistics:

Of the twenty five DUI arrests made this year:

•Three were a result of responsible citizens contacting law enforcement when they witnessed a suspected DUI driver.

•Eighteen people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, with an average blood alcohol level of 0.13.

•Four people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

•Three people were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The Angels Camp PD is encouraging residents to call 9-1-1 if a suspected DUI driver is spotted. It is also important to line up a designated driver if you are going to be drinking.
