Fire Chief’s Administrative Leave Extended

Mi-Wuk Village, CA — The Mi-Wuk Village-Sugar Pine Fire Chief’s administrative leave has been extended, but there is still no word on why he was put on leave in the first place. Chief Randy Miller was put on leave at the beginning of April by the Governing Board of Directors. Now that board has extended Miller’s paid leave to May 20th while the investigation continues. His leave was originally set to expire on May 5.

Earlier this month, Acting Chief Larry Crabtree would not reveal the reason for the leave due to confidentiality laws. All he would say was, “An outside investigator is going to be interviewing other employees and witnesses. He will submit a report to the board to make a determination on any action that needs to be taken.”

That action could include firing Miller. He has been the Fire Chief for over five years. He oversees a staff of nine including five interns. Command Strategies Consulting out of El Dorado Hills is doing the investigation.
