Hundreds Attend Gruenther Memorial

Tuolumne, CA — Community members got a chance to say good-bye to Major Lucas Gruenther. Gruenther, a pilot assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing, went missing during a nighttime training mission over the Adriatic Sea on January 28. An investigation is still on going.

Nearly a thousand people filled the big gym at Summerville High School to say farewell. Gruether was a student at Summerville. Family and friends reminiscing about Gruenther and a video of his life in the military was played at the Celebration of Life service. Also, many of those who attended wore green in honor of Gruenther’s military unit.

Donations for a scholarship fund set up in Gruenther’s name are still being accepted. Click here for more information www.lucasgruenther.com.
