Westside/Cherry Valley Tax Vote

Tuolumne, CA — Some property owners in Tuolumne County will vote on a tax measure in the coming weeks.

This week the county approved plans for a vote-by- mail election related to road maintenance in the County Service Area #47 (Westside/Cherry Valley). All of the land is currently owned by the Tuolumne Band of Mi Wuk Indians. Special assessments paid by property owners are currently calculated by a formula that uses the distance from a county maintained road as a main factor in the fee.

The current assessments in CSA 47 range from $125 to $1,200 per parcel. The ballot measure would put everyone on the same playing field, and each parcel owner would pay an estimated $638, with annual adjustments.

Property owners will be notified by mail regarding this special election, and the voting deadline will be April 25th at 1pm.
