Sawmill Lake Voted Down

San Andreas, CA — Yesterday the Calaveras County Supervisors voted down the Sawmill Lake subdivision project by a vote of 5-0.

There were concerns brought up about whether it conforms to the existing General Plan. The General Plan has been a controversial issue in the county, and something that will soon be up for revision. The project was voted down, without prejudice, meaning that developer Castle and Cooke can make revisions and bring it back for approval down the road. The county indicated that it will work with Castle and Cooke in hopes of finding an agreement. The plan called for over 500 homes to be located near the existing Copperopolis Town Square.
