Implementing Healthcare Act Premature

Sacramento, CA – The Assembly Committee on Appropriations voted yesterday along party lines to support AB 2x. Republican Assemblyman Frank Bigelow’s Office says it would lock into state law the federal Affordable Care Act requirements.

Assemblyman Bigelow says, “Until we are certain that the Affordable Care Act will not negatively affect the people we serve, the legislation is premature.” He adds, “The legislation before the committee to implement the Affordable Care Act does nothing to decrease costs or increase health care access for the people of my district. In fact, this bill would increase costs of insurance premiums, causing my constituents and all Californians to pay more for health care.”

The vote was 12 to 5 in favor.
