Caltrans Announces Extended Highway 108 Closure

Sonora, CA – A section of Highway 108/120 will be closed during the daytime hours through Sunday, March 3.

Caltrans Spokesperson Angela DePrato says it is due to the fuel spill this past Wednesday. An estimated 1,000 gallons of fuel was spilled onto Highway 108/120 near the Yosemite Junction when a big rig truck overturned. The fuel reportedly seeped further into the roadside dirt than initially estimated. Because of the narrowness of the highway, officials have called for the complete closure while the cleanup and repair work is taking place.

Motorists will not be able to travel on Highway 108 between the Yosemite and Montezuma Junctions from 7am-5pm. A detour is set up through Chinese Camp.

The detour results in a little over a 10 minute delay.
