Motorists Alert: Highway 108 Shudown Canceled

Jamestown, CA — Plans to shutdown a section of Highway 108 starting at 7 this morning have been scrapped. Hazmat crews were to continue cleaning up fuel that spilled from an overturned tanker crash earlier this week. Caltrans has now canceled the closing due to the rainy weather.

The roadway was to be closed from the Yosemite Junction to the Montezuma turn. Caltrans says that section may still be shutdown Sunday from 7 am to 5pm weather permitting. If the roadway is closed tomorrow, a signed detour from the Montezuma Junction through Chinese Camp and back onto 108/120 will be set up. Also, Caltrans ask that motorists take an alternative route whenever possible if the clean up takes place.
