Motorists Alert: Highway 108 Closed This Weekend

Tuolumne County, CA – A section of Highway 108 will be shutdown this weekend to continue fuel clean up from the overturned tanker crash. It happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday. The CHP says the crash was due to icy road conditions from Tuesday’s winter storm. Click here for earlier story on the tanker crash. The roadway will be closed from the Yosemite Junction to the Montezuma turn both Saturday and Sunday from 7a.m. to 5p.m.

Caltrans Spokesperson Ken Paglia says, “Crews are going to be doing hazmat clean up and pavement repair. They’re still cleaning up the oil. We’re just making sure the roadway is safe for drivers as the go through the spill area.”

Caltrans says motorists can expect 10 minute delays. A signed detour from the Montezuma Junction through Chinese Camp and back onto 108/120 has been set up. Also Caltrans is asking that motorists take an alternative route whenever possible.
