Fatal Crash In Columbia

Columbia, CA — There was a collision related fatality in Columbia today. The name of the victim has not been released. Also, the cause of death of the 68 year old male is still under investigation and yet to be determined.


The victim was traveling westbound on State Street in Columbia at 1:20pm. The CHP report the victim was driving a 1997 Chrysler at a high rate of speed. The vehicle went off the edge of the roadway, sideswiped a tree, collided with a row of mailboxes and was stopped when it crashed into a large pine tree. The driver was given medical aid by witnesses and passerby until emergency personnel arrived on scene. He was later pronounced dead at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
