Budget And Trail On Agenda

Sonora, CA — The Sonora City Council will hear a report about how the current budget is holding up.

It is one of the items on the agenda for Tuesday’s Council meeting. “I think we are seeing some signs of recovery,” says City Administrator Tim Miller. “We’re seeing small enhancements in our sales tax and property tax revenues.”

When the budget was prepared last May, the City anticipated ending with a $140K surplus. Miller now anticipates that the surplus will be closer to $300K, which he says is “good news.”

On Tuesday, the Council will also select the preferred alternative for the Dragoon Gulch Trail Master Plan. Thanks to federal grant funding, the City is looking to expand the existing trail system in the city.

This week’s meeting is being held on Tuesday because of today being Presidents Day. The meeting will begin at 5pm at Sonora City Hall. It is open to the public.
