Raises For Calaveras County Employees

San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors has signed off on a new three year labor deal with department heads and mid-level government staffers. The contract with the Service Employee International Union is for three years and includes a 2.5 percent raise in the first two years and a 4 percent hike in the final year.

Interim County Administrative Officer John Blacklock says, “I think the first year is essentially a wash with the employee because they receive and increase in pay, but also pick up an additional share of their retirement costs. I think the contracts really good because it’s for three years so we won’t be involved in that exhausting process each year. It’s always nice to see the county and employees reach an agreement particularly when it’s for a longer period of time like this.”

The Board passed the contract unanimously.
