Donkey Basketball In Tuolumne This Sunday

Donkey Basketball returns to Tuolumne City this Sunday!

Alisha Rock, Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee Committee spokesperson, was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Donkey Basketball is a fundraiser for the annual Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee, which will take place over a four day period this June.

The event begins at 3 PM this Sunday March 3rd, inside of the Tuolumne Veteran’s Memorial Hall.

According to Rock, “There will be thrills, spills, and lots of laughs when teams compete for the Donkey Basketball Championship Title. This is a fun event for the entire family to enjoy.”

Donkey Sports officials will be strictly enforcing the rules against players abusing the donkeys in any way. However, there is no such rule applied to the donkeys abusing the riders! All team players will be moving up and down the basketball court on their donkeys, bouncing the basketball, passing the ball to other team mates and shooting the ball for baskets.

Each of the teams are made up of local residents, so audience members will recognize and cheer for their favorite participants.

Also, for your enjoyment during the game, the local Veteran’s Association will be on site offering delicious BBQ tri-tip and chicken for sale.

Ticket prices at the door are: $10.00 for Adults, $8.00 for students 7-12 grade and $6.00 for children K-6 grade, children 5 and under are free. Advanced tickets may be purchased at Tuolumne Park and Rec for a $1.00 discount.

Rock added applications are being accepted for Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee Queen candidates. The contestants must be between ages 13 to 18.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML.
