Winter Recreation Along Highway 108 A Hazard For Motorists

Sonora, CA — Throughout the weekend, and again on this President’s Day, law enforcement is receiving reports of people parking along various areas of highway 108.

The CHP reminds travelers that it is illegal to stop in a non-designated parking area and recreate. As you can see in the photo, yesterday afternoon there were multiple cars parked along the Highway 108 bypass near Sonora.

This morning, the CHP reports that several vehicles have pulled off along Highway 108, east of Twain Harte, and some are partially blocking the highway. An officer is going up to investigate the situation to see if people are breaking rules, or simply pulling over to put on snow chains.
