Yosemite Operations Returning To Normal

Yosemite, CA — After being closed for 37 days due to the partial government shutdown, the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, Yosemite Museum and the Hetch Hetchy recreation area are all back open.

In addition, you can again recreate in areas like Hodgdon Meadow and along the Mist Trail. Later this week both the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and the Crane Flat Snow Play area will reopen.

Rangers are also back staffing the entrance stations to collect fees and provide park information. Other rangers are providing seasonal hikes and programs.

Normal operations were restored after a spending bill was approved to fund the government through at least the middle of next month. If an agreement is not hashed out by lawmakers, there could be another partial shutdown in a couple of weeks.
