Council To Talk About TCEDA And Microbrewery

Sonora, CA — At tonight’s Sonora City Council meeting there will be a vote on a matter pertaining to a potential microbrewery in the downtown area, and further discussion about the future of the city’s participation in the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority.

First, the city will vote on an ordinance that would allow a microbrewery to operate with a use permit in non-residential zoning districts. The city received an application from Thomas Silva to open a microbrewery at 28 South Washington Street, the site of the Lighthouse Deli. In addition, the city will vote on formally requesting a shortened period of time to give notice before potentially dropping out of the Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority. The current time frame agreed upon by the city and county is 180 days prior to the new budget beginning on July 1st, but the city would like a shorter period of time because there is still a management and financial audit in development. In addition, there will be discussion about options for trying to enhance economic development in the event the city leaves the TCEDA.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 5pm at Sonora City Hall.
