Keystone, CA – The CHP has released new details surrounding a crash on Highway 108 in the Keystone area of Tuolumne County – citing a tire is to blame.
As reported here yesterday, the wreck happened around 1:30 p.m. on the westbound lanes of the highway near La Grange Road. CHP Sonora Unit Officer Brian Bowman relays that 50-year-old Patrick Sullivan of Jamestown was behind the wheel of a pickup that was pulling a trailer loaded with scrap metal and lost a tire. It went rolling across the roadway and hit an oncoming Honda minivan driven by 55-year-old Qing Zheng from Sacramento. Luckily, Zheng was not injured, but the van had extensive front end damage, according to Bowman.
The wreckage blocked one lane of the highway and also sparked a grass fire. CAL Fire shares that the blaze was quickly contained at under a quarter acre. CHP Officers directed one-way traffic control for about 30 minutes as tow crews removed the wreckage.
