Update On Buchanan Road Repairs

Tuolumne County, CA — Motorists will face delays as one-way traffic is in place along a stretch of Buchanan Road due to a land slide.

As reported here earlier this month, Tuolumne County road officials had asked the public to avoid the roadway if possible especially the section that is approximately 1.7 miles from Carter Street in Tuolumne.  Today Community Resources Agency Engineering Manager Tanya Allen updated that one lane of the roadway will be closed in that area due to the  condition of the hillside there.

The one-way traffic areas will be controlled by signal lights on either side of where parts of the hillside slid onto the roadway. Allen adds that these traffic controls will remain in place as a safety precaution until the hillside is assessed and repairs are made. Travelers are still encourage to find an alternative route if possible.
