Wildfire Updates Across California

A new fire ignited in Northern California last night that for a while shut down a major interstate highway.

The 500 acre Grant Fire started near Interstate 580 at the Altamont Pass. The westbound lanes reopened at 7pm, and CAL Fire reports that it is 20-percent contained. Also, updating fires that have been burning for multiple days….the County Fire in Napa County is 90,000 acres and 73-percent contained, the Georges Fire in Inyo County is 750 acres and there is no containment, the Klamathon Fire in Siskiyou County is 35,000 acres and 30-percent contained and the Irish Fire in Amador County is 790 acres and 99-percent contained.

Also, on Saturday afternoon there was a 20 acre fire that was fully contained in Stanislaus County near the community of Eugene. Aircraft from Columbia helped extinguish the blaze. CAL Fire reports that it was caused by someone using fireworks in dry vegetation. Later on Saturday there was a 10-acre fire contained near Paloma.
