CHP Search Not For Criminal, But A Cow

Sonora, CA — Concerns regarding safety for the cow and vehicles prompted the CHP to round up a posse to comb the area between Twain Harte and Tuolumne – but those saddled up were not able to rope the bovine.

Sightings of the spotted cow began pouring in since Saturday, but once officers arrived on the seen the heifer was long gone. The CHP decided to take action last night with a search involving officers in patrol vehicles, volunteers on horseback and dogs sniffing through the brush where the cow was last seen near the Cover’s Apple Ranch on Cherokee Road near Carol Lane, off Tuolumne Road. Those looking never got a glimpse of the bovine and when it got too dark, the search was called off.

It is unclear who the bovine belongs to or from what field it escaped. A picture of the cow is in the image box. The CHP asks that anyone who may see the wayward cow call the Sonora unit at 984-3994.
