Cause Determined In Friday’s HWY 4 Blaze

Murphys, CA – With the recent hot temperatures, what sparked a fire on Highway 4 Friday afternoon might be surprising as CAL Fire points to human error.

Dubbed the “Green Fire” by CAL Fire, air and ground resources battled the flames that broke out near Green Meadow Court and Locke Vineyards until it was fully contained last night in just under two acres in size, as reported here yesterday.

Investigators surveying the blaze found a campfire, picture in the image box, with no clearance that allowed flames to escaped and spread to vegetation as the culprit.
