Sonora, CA — Be prepared for visible smoke next week near the community of Tuolumne.
CAL Fire is planning to ignite a prescribed fire at the Mt. Havalia Vegetation Management Project site. It is adjacent to Tuolumne and the fire will be visible from Tuolumne Road, Providence Mine Road, Laurel Avenue and parts of Apple Colony Road. The objective is to increase the size of a fuel break that could slow the speed of a wildfire. Burning is scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, from 10am-5pm. There will be multiple fire engines, crews and cooperating agencies on scene.
