Prescribed Burning Projects Continue In Stanislaus National Forest

Sonora, CA — The Summit Ranger District ignited the Dry Meadow Understory burn six miles northeast of Pinecrest yesterday and 50 – 150 acres are scheduled to be burned daily, weather permitting. The total project is around 1,090 acres.

In addition, the Forest Service also reports that burning is scheduled today on the Irish-O’Manuel prescribed burn one mile west of Arnold in the Calaveras Ranger District. Up to 34 acres will be ignited to help protect nearby communities and infrastructure.

Last week there was notable smoke coming from the Crandall Ridge Prescribed Burn near Mi Wuk Village. Over 100 acres were successfully treated.

Prescribed burns will continue throughout spring.
