Tuolumne, CA — Sadly, there was another fatal accident in the Mother Lode.
The latest incident occurred on Tuolumne Road east of Westside Road, Saturday, at 1:25pm. The CHP reports that 73-year-old Jean Claire Simmons of Modesto was driving a 1999 Toyota Corrolla and she drifted off the road, overcorrected, and eventually hit a rock hillside on the north side of the road. She was the only person in the car.
Simmons was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto where she was pronounced dead. It is possible a second vehicle was involved in the crash that fled the scene, according to the CHP. An active investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to call 209-984-3944.
