Update: Stuck Semi-truck Blocking Downtown Sonora Traffic

Update at 3:44 p.m.: Elkin Street has re-opened to motorists now that a big rig that had become stuck on the road near Shepherd Street has been cleared.

Police officials say traffic controls that were in place nearby have all been lifted and there should not be any delays.

Update at 3:15 p.m.: Due to a stuck truck on Elkin Street, Elkin Street in downtown Sonora is shut down and police are directing traffic away from it at North Washington Street.

Those needing to get north to North Stewart Street should access it via Cowan Street. For drivers needing to get south of Elkin, turn on Jackson Street. Motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible; otherwise, please slow, use caution and follow directions on scene.
