CA Attorney General Lobbies Against Concealed-Carry Legislation

Washington, DC — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is taking issue with proposed federal legislation that would allow people to carry a concealed firearm in any state, as long as they are legal to do so in the state of their residence.

The legislation is being pushed by gun-right organizations, who argue that it would eliminate hurdles, and streamline the process,  for a resident wanting to carry a concealed firearm in another state.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has authored a letter to the Congress, signed by attorney generals from 16 other states, arguing, “The right of the states to decide what is best for them, especially when it comes to public safety, is a founding ideal of this nation.” Becerra argues that the change would make it harder for state law enforcement officials to do their jobs.
